FORMER reality star Elissa Corrigan has told how appearing on Desperate Scousewives left her fat, sick and depressed.
She spiralled into a cycle of binge drinking after taking part in the 2011 E4 reality show, gaining two stone and three dress sizes.
Elissa, 32, partied almost every night, surviving on just a bowl of soup so she could save her calories for wine and shots.
She’d black out then wake up the following morning filled with fear about what had happened the night before.
Elissa, from Blackburn, Lancs, recalled: “I was out of control. On an average night I would lose count of the number of glasses of wine and champagne I’d drink.
“Then, I’d go on to vodka and Jagerbomb shots. I would drink to the point where I couldn’t drink anymore. I never knew when to stop.
“I was a classic binge drinker. Even on my first night at Uni I was so nervous about meeting my flatmates I drank so much I fell over and smashed my nose.
“When I was on Desperate Scousewives, going out was part of the job. One night I went out at 10pm for a birthday and I was home by midnight.
“Stupidly I hadn’t eaten all day because I wanted to look slim in my dress but when I had my first drink it all hit me all at once.
“I have no recollection of what happened, I couldn’t even get into my own apartment. I couldn’t find my keys and a neighbour had to get the concierge to let me in.
“Waking up in the morning was mortifying. I still don’t know to this day who it was that helped me. Every time I left my flat I had the fear.
“I was an embarrassment. Once I was photographed at a Polo event in a lovely dress, rolling around in mud, out of my mind.”
I worked with Elissa following a press trip to the Life Lab Retreat. Her story appeared on Mail Online and you can read it in full here.
