Remember shell suits in the 90s? Well Hollie Brain has brought them back – only they’re for tortoise.
Hollie runs a business called Torty Threads and sells hundreds of crocheted items all over the world for tortoise parents.
She creates burgers, hot dogs, unicorns, santa hats and dinosaur suits and sells them for between £8-20 each on Etsy to Tortoise parents all over the world!
By day she works in her local post office in Offenham in Worcestershire and she started making clothes for tortoises in 2015 when she got her own baby tortoises Heidi and Harper.
She thought they would look cute in outfits and learned to crochet – Tortoises are cold blooded and need warmth – they have to be under the sun or UV light 12 hours a day.
Hollie has designed for people in America, Japan, Singapore and New Zealand and makes clothes for free for disabled tortoises.
She spoke to be about her business venture for this story in the Sunday Express and you can read it on the PDF below.
