Millennials choose pets for how they look on social media

February 26, 2019 By Rachel Spencer Leave a Comment

Research by Petplan found that one in ten millennials chose the breed of their pet based on how they would look on social media.

The figures came from a Pet Census report carried out by the insurance firm into the relationship we have with our pets.

I spoke to representatives from two rescue organisations about their feelings on this issue for a feature for the Sunday Express.

French Bulldogs are the most popular breed on Instagram so I spoke to Teresa Cargill from Phoenix French Bulldog Rescue about the findings.

Vanessa Waddon from Hope Rescue who deals with lots of puppies from backyard breeders also shared her insights and the story of Enzo, pictured below, a puppy bred for his looks.

The story was reported on BBC Breakfast News, the Sky Paper Review and Jeremy Vine invited Teresa to speak about it on his TV show.
