A PRETTY nurse who is a dead ringer for Frozen favourite Princess Elsa has told how she’s cashing in on her look to make up to £500 a week!
Lydia Lewington looks so like the Disney favourite that the children on her ward think she IS the princess.
Now she only works part time at her local hospital in Reading – and says she will earning a fortune at Christmas parties posing as the Ice Queen.
Lydia, 23, explained: “It’s completely taken over my life and while princesses are so popular and people think I look like one then I figure I’d be mad not to make the most of it!”
She says she is hoping to combine her two jobs this Christmas to bring some magic into the hospital by dressing up as a princess and treating the children.
Lydia said: “It will be nice to see the children who are sadly too poorly to have Christmas at home.”
The pretty blonde fell into her role after a photographer friend asked her to dress up as Elsa to entertain children on his portrait stall in her local shopping centre.
Lydia bought an outfit from Ebay for £20, plaited her hair and did her make up similar to the Disney character.
She was mobbed by kids who thought she was the real Elsa and parents asked her to come along to parties.
When she first started, Lydia nearly came a cropper when a little girl asked what had happened to her mum and dad.
“I didn’t have a clue so I asked one of the other girls at the party to explain,” she recalled. “She told them my parents had died. Then I had to say I couldn’t talk about them as it made me too upset.
“But now I’ve seen Frozen more than 30 times so I have an answer for everything. I often get asked why Olaf isn’t with me, and I say he’s in the freezer so he doesn’t melt, with the ice pops.
“Sometimes they will ask if my hair is a wig, which it’s not, and why I have darker eyebrows than my hair because Elsa doesn’t.
“I get asked if I can turn things into ice as well but I have to say I can only use my special powers if I really need them!”
Lydia charges between £50 and £100 per appearance and can do up to five in a week organsied through her website.
As well as Elsa, Lydia dresses up as Cinderella and Tinkerbell the fairy and her party role means she can easily double what she earns as a nurse.
She’s had some strange looks from adults while out and about as a princess too.
Lydia said: “My boyfriend thinks it’s hilarious and often I’ll get lads beeping and yelling ‘let it go,’ at traffic lights when they see me driving around in my Elsa outfit.
“I have to be careful the kids don’t see me getting in and out of the car too, as they wouldn’t expect to see a princess driving around in battered Peugeot 206.”
Lydia says she has had children in hospital ask if she’s Elsa too. She said: “I have to try to work out if they’ve seen me as Elsa at a party or if they just think I look like her.
“I usually say that I’m lucky enough to look just like her or they can get a little bit confused when I’m treating them.”
When she feels she no longer looks like a fairytale character, Lydia says she will go back to nursing full time, but for now, she’s not ready to be parted with her alter egos.
She said: “I enjoy making the children so happy and seeing their faces light up. It’s lovely to be able to portray such popular characters.
“It’s such a magical experience for the little ones and for me as well!”
